FAQ

Ans. IIT Ropar comprises seven hostels catering to the housing needs of its students. These hostels are distributed across Transit Campus-I, Transit Campus-II, and Permanent Campus. The total capacity for accommodation includes 1360 for male students and 274 for female students. 

Ans. Admissions for BTech programs at IIT Ropar are determined by the candidate's rank, based on the All India rank (AIR) and category rank. During JoSAA counselling, candidates must prioritize their course choices at IIT Ropar and can modify their preferences until they are finalized.

Ans. The application fees vary for different categories of students:

  • BTech/BTech+MTech: INR 300 for the general category, INR 150 for the reserved category
  • MTech/PhD.: INR 200 for the general category, INR 100 for the reserved category.

Ans. IIT Ropar employs an online application process for course applications and counselling:

  • BTech/BTech+MTech: Entrance through JEE Advanced; counselling through JoSAA
  • MTech: Entrance through GATE; common registration through COAP
  • PhD: Entrance through UGC-NET/CSIR-NET/JRF/GATE; counselling and interview conducted by IIT Ropar.
