IIT Patna Admissions

  1. IIT Patna offers Admissions for various programs, including BTech, BS, MTech, MSc, and PhD. 
  2. To secure Admission to the BTech and BS programs, candidates must clear both JEE Main and JEE Advanced and participate in the JoSAA counselling. For MSc Admissions, the selection is based on performance in the JAM exam.
  3. MTech Admissions Candidates' GATE scores are determined.
  4. PhD Admissions The various modes are available, including full-time, part-time, and online. Merit-based selection, considering the performance in GATE/NET scores, and written test and interviews A panel of experts conducts the interviews of IIT Patna.

IIT Patna BTech Admission Process

  1. Apply for the JEE Main and JEE Advanced exams: The JEE Main is a national-level entrance exam for undergraduate engineering programs in India. The JEE Advanced is a more selective exam for Admission to IITs and other top engineering colleges.
  2. Apply for Admission to IIT Patna through JoSAA: JoSAA is a centralized admission portal for IITs and other engineering colleges in India. The application process for JoSAA opens after the JEE Advanced results are announced.
  3. Pay the Admission Fee and Gain Admission to IIT Patna: If you are allotted a seat in IIT Patna, you must pay the admission fee and take Admission to the college.

IIT Patna BTech Eligibility Criteria

  1. Applicants must have completed their 10+2 education in the science stream, securing at least 75% marks. However, individuals in the SC/ST category should have achieved at least 65% in their 10+2 exams. Alternatively, those in the top 20 percentile of their class 12 examinations can seek Admission to the B. Tech program.
  2. The candidate must have a valid JEE Advanced score.

  1. Application:

  3. Apply for MTech at IIT Patna: Once you have qualified for the GATE exam, you can apply for MTech at IIT Patna through the Common Offer Admission Process (COAP). The COAP portal is opened every year after the GATE results are announced.

  5. Personal Interview: The interview will assess the candidate's aptitude, communication skills, and suitability for the program.

IIT Patna MTech Eligibility Criteria

  1. Possess a recognized Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technology, M Sc, or equivalent professional qualifications (like AMIE).
  2. A minimum of 60% marks (or a CGPA of 6.5 on a 10-point scale) is required for General/OBC/EWS candidates, and 55% marks (or a CGPA of 6.0 on a 10-point scale) needed for SC/ST candidates in the final qualifying examination.

  2. Apply for the IIT JAM Entrance Exam: The IIT JAM is a national-level entrance exam for Admission to master's programs in mathematics, physics, chemistry, and statistics at IIT Patna.
  3. Apply for the IIT Patna MSc program through COAP: The IIT Patna MSc program admissions are made through the Common Offer Acceptance Process (COAP). The COAP is a centralized online admission process for IITs and other top institutes.
  4. Join the IIT Patna MSc Program: Candidates who meet the criteria will secure Admission to IIT Patna's MSc program.

IIT Patna MSc Eligibility Criteria

  1. The candidate must have a Bachelor's degree in the relevant discipline with at least 55% marks.
  2. The candidate must have appeared and qualified for the IIT JAM (Joint Admission Test for Masters) examination.
  3. The candidate must have a valid GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) score in the relevant discipline of the MSc. The program requires it.
  4. The candidate must have a valid TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) score of at least 80 if the MSc. The program is in English medium.

IIT Patna MSc Selection Criteria

  1. The selection of the candidates will depend on their JAM score and their performance in the interview.

IIT Patna BS Admission Process

  1. Application: The application process will be through the JoSAA portal. Applicants are required to complete online registration and submission of the application form. The application fee is INR 1000.
  2. Apply for JEE Main: The application form for JEE Main is available online on the official website of NTA.
  3. JEE Advanced: Candidates who clear JEE Main will be eligible to appear for JEE Advanced. The JEE Advanced is a national-level entrance exam for Admission to BS courses in IITs.
  4. Counselling: Candidates who pass the initial selection process will receive invitations to participate in the counselling sessions. In the counselling round, candidates will be allotted a seat based on their JEE Advanced score and the availability of seats.

IIT Patna BS Eligibility Criteria

  1.  Candidates must have achieved at least 75% marks in their 10+2 examinations. Patterns in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. Candidates of SC/ST must have scored 65% in 10+2.

The application fee is INR 300 (general/EWS/OBC (Male) and INR 150 for ST/SC/Female candidates).

IIT Patna PhD Eligibility Criteria

  1. Applicants need to have completed either an M. Phil. or a Master's degree in fields such as Arts, Commerce, Science, Management, or a related discipline, with a Least score of 55% or its equivalent.
  2. Candidates can possess a Master's degree in Engineering, Technology, or Design in a relevant specialization, with a minimum Cumulative Performance Index (CPI) of 6.5 or a 60% aggregate.
  3. Another pathway is open to those with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Technology in a pertinent field, with a minimum CPI of 6.5 or achieving a 60% mark.
