NIT Silchar : Scholarships

National Institute of Technology Silchar (NIT Silchar) offers a range of scholarships to its students based on their academic merit. Financial need, and other criteria. Some of the scholarships available include:

1. Central Government: scholarships are offered by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) and other central government ministries to students from all over India. Some of the central government scholarships available at NIT Silchar include: 
1. Post-matric scholarship for students belonging to the Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Scheduled Tribes (STs)
2. Merit-cum-means scholarship for students from economically weaker sections (EWSs). The National Scholarship Scheme is designed to support students from low-income families.
3. Top Class Education Scheme for students from SC/ST communities
2. State Government Scholarships: These scholarships are offered by the Government of Assam and other state governments to students from their respective states. Some of the state government scholarships available at NIT Silchar include: 
1. Assam Merit Scholarship Scheme for students from Assam who have secured high marks in their class 12 examinations
2. Assam Post-matric Scholarship Scheme for students from Assam belonging to the SC/ST/OBC communities
3. Assam Minority Development Scholarship Scheme for students from Assam belonging to minority communities
3. Institutional Scholarships: These scholarships are offered by NIT Silchar itself to its students. Some of the institutional scholarships available at NIT Silchar include: 
1. Director's Merit Scholarship for students who have secured high marks in their class 12 examinations
2. Institute Merit Scholarship for students who have secured high marks in their previous semesters
3. Alumni Scholarship for students who are the children of NIT Silchar alumni
4. Financial Aid for students from economically challenged backgrounds.
