NIT Sikkim : Admissions

1. NIT Sikkim Offers Admissions For BTech, MTech, MSc, and PhD.
2. For BTech, Admissions are based on the JEE Main Scores, which follow the JoSSA Counselling Process.
3. International Students offer Admissions for Undergraduate Programs Through DASA Schemes.
4. For MTech, Admissions are based on the GATE Scores followed by the CCMT Counselling Process.
5. MSc admissions are based on the JAM Scores and follow the CCMN Counselling Process.
6. PhD Admissions are based on the entrance exams GATE/NET or UGC-NET/CSIR for JRF, which consist of written tests and interviews with the panel of experts conducted by NIT Sikkim.

1. Apply Online: Candidates can apply online through the JoSAA portal. The application fee for the BTech program is ₹1500 for General and OBC candidates and ₹1000 for SC/ST candidates.
2. Appear for JEE Main: The JEE Main is a nationwide entrance examination to gain admission to undergraduate engineering programs in India. It is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
3. Register for JoSAA Counselling: The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) conducts centralized online counselling for admission to NITs and other Centrally Funded Technical Institutes (CFTIs). To register for JoSAA counselling, candidates must have a valid JEE Main score.
4. Fill in the JoSAA Choice Filling Form: During JoSAA counselling, candidates must fill in a choice filling form indicating their preferred NITs and BTechs. Programs.
5. Seat Allotment: JoSAA will allot seats to candidates based on their JEE Main score, rank, and choices.
6. Accept Seat and Pay Fee: Once a candidate is allotted a seat, they must accept it and pay the required fees to NIT Sikkim.
7. Report to NIT Sikkim: If you have been allocated a seat at NIT Sikkim, you must report to the college within the specified date and time. You must carry all the required documents, including your JEE Main admit card, rank card, and provisional admission letter.

Educational Qualifications

1. Applicants must have completed the 10+2 examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects, securing a minimum aggregate of 75% (65% for SC/ST/OBC candidates).
2. Candidates must have passed the Joint Entrance Examination (Main) - JEE (Main) with a valid rank.

Age Limit

1. Candidates must be at most 25 years as of July 31, 2024. SC/ST/OBC candidates are eligible for a relaxation of 5 years, while PwD candidates are eligible for a relaxation of 3 years.

The Direct Admission of Students Abroad (DASA) is a program offered by the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India, to facilitate international students seeking admission to various higher education institutions in India. Through DASA, international students can apply for B.Tech programs at NIT Sikkim.

1. Applicants must be a citizen of a foreign country.
2. Applicants must have passed the qualifying examination with at least 60% marks or 6.50 CGPA on a 10-point scale or equivalent.
3. Applicants must have appeared for the qualifying examination in the academic year they are applying for admission.
4. Applicants must have completed their 12th/equivalent level of education in the science stream.

1. Selection for B.Tech programs at NIT Sikkim through DASA is based on merit, considering the applicant's scores in the qualifying examination and their ranking in the DASA merit list.

1. Appear for GATE and score a valid GATE score: The GATE score is required for all MTech applicants at NIT Sikkim. The minimum GATE score required varies depending on the program and category.
2. Register for CCMT counselling: CCMT (Centralized Counselling for MTech is a centralized counselling process for admission to MTech programs at NITs and other participating institutes. To register for CCMT counselling, visit the CCMT website and create an account.
3. Fill out the CCMT Application form: The CCMT application form will require details, academic qualifications, GATE score, and preferred programs and institutes.
4. Lock your choices: Once you have completed the CCMT application form, you must lock your choices. In order of preference, you must finalize the programs and institutes you are interested in.
5. Participate in CCMT counselling: CCMT will conduct multiple rounds of counselling. In each round, candidates will be allotted seats based on their GATE score, preferred choices, and the availability of seats.
6. Accept your seat and pay the admission fee: If you are allotted a seat in the CCMT counselling, you must accept and pay it within the stipulated time.

GATE/CCMT Score:

1. Candidates must have a valid GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) score in the relevant discipline. The GATE score is mandatory for admission to NIT Sikkim's M.Tech programs.

3. Choose NIT Calicut as one of Your Preferred Institutes: While registering for CCMN counselling, you must choose NIT Sikkim as one of your preferred institutes. You can also choose other NITs and CFTIs during the registration process.
4. Participate in the CCMN Counselling: The CCMN counselling process is typically conducted annually. During the counselling process, you will be allowed a seat at one of the institutes you have chosen based on your JAM score and other factors.
5. Accept the Seat and Pay the Admission Fees: Once you have been allotted a seat at NIT Sikkim, you must accept and pay the admission fees by the specified deadline.
6. Submit the Required Documents: After paying the admission fees, you must submit the required documents to NIT Sikkim. The required documents typically include the following: 
1. JAM scorecard
2. Class 10 and 12 mark sheets
3. Graduation degree certificate and mark sheets
4. Category certificate (if applicable)
5. Passport size photographs
7. Attend the Document Verification and Admission Process: Once you have submitted the required documents, you must attend the document verification and admission process at NIT Sikkim. During the document verification process, your documents will be verified by the institute officials. Once your documents are verified, you will be admitted to the MSc program of your choice.

4. Appear for the Written Test and Interview: Once you have submitted your application form and uploaded the required documents, you will be shortlisted for the written test and interview. The respective departments/centres at NIT Sikkim will conduct the written test and interview.

1. Applicants should hold either a Master's degree or a Bachelor's degree in a pertinent field, with a minimum aggregate of 60% for Master's degree holders and 75% for Bachelor's degree holders.
