NIT Mizoram Admissions

  1. NIT Mizoram offers Admissions for Programs like BTech, MTech, and PhD.
  2. The Admission for BTech is based on the JEE Main Entrance exams and Followed by the JOSSA Counselling process.
  3. The institution also offers Admissions for international students based on the DASA. Scheme
  4. The Admission For MTech Are based on the GATE Scores.
  5. The MSc Admission is based on the JAM Scores.

NIT Mizoram BTech Admission Process

  1. Appear for JEE Main: All candidates aspiring to BTech at NIT Mizoram must appear for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main. JEE Main is a nationwide entrance examination administered by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The institute offers a 4-year BTech program with 5 specialisations.
  2. Apply for JoSAA Counselling: Once qualified for JEE Main, you need to apply for the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) counselling. JoSAA is a centralised counselling process for admission to various engineering colleges in India, including NIT Mizoram.
  3. Select Your Preferred Colleges and Courses: In the JoSAA application form, you must select your preferred colleges and courses. You can select up to 100 colleges and courses in the order of your preference.
  4. Lock Your Choices: Once you have selected your preferred colleges and courses, you must lock your choices. Once you have locked your choices, you cannot change your application.
  5. Participate in JoSAA Counselling: JoSAA counselling is conducted in multiple rounds. In each round, you will be allotted a seat based on your JEE Main rank, your preferences, and the availability of seats.
  6. Accept Your Seat: If you are allotted a seat in a round of JoSAA counselling, you must accept the seat within the stipulated period. It would be best if you accepted the seat to be considered for subsequent rounds of counselling.
  7. Report to the Allotted College: Once you have accepted your seat, you must report to the allotted College on the specified date. You must carry all the required documents, such as your JEE Main admit Card, scorecard, and class 12th mark sheet.

NIT Mizoram BTech Eligibility Criteria

Academic Qualification:

  1. Applicants must have completed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) from a recognised board. 
  2. Additionally, candidates should have attained a minimum aggregate of 75% marks in the 10+2 examination in the Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) subjects.

Entrance Exam:

  1. Applicants must have qualified in the JEE Main exam and obtained a valid rank. 
  2. Furthermore, candidates must complete the registration process for the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) counselling to be considered eligible for admission to NIT Mizoram.
  3.  In the event of vacant seats after the JoSAA Counseling, these seats are filled through the Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) Counselling.

NIT Mizoram BTech Selection Criteria

  1. NIT Mizoram BTech Selection Criteria is based on the candidate's performance in the JEE Main exam.
  2. Candidates qualified for the JEE Main exam can participate in the JoSAA counselling process.
  3. The JoSAA counselling process is conducted online, and candidates can choose their preferred NITs and branches during the counselling.
  4. Seats are allotted to candidates based on their JEE Main rank, category, and preferences.

NIT Mizoram BTech Admission Process Through DASA

  1. Registration: Register online on the DASA portal during the specified registration period. Create an account and fill in the required details, including personal information, educational qualifications, and contact details.
  2. Upload Documents: Upload scanned copies of the required documents, such as: 
    1. Photo (100KB) and Signature (50KB) (in image format and not in PDF)
    2. Print out the Registration form, Locked Choices, and Provisional Seat Allotment letter.
    3. Document Verification cum seat Acceptance letter.
    4. Admit Card of JEE (Main).
    5. Score Card of JEE (Main)
    6. Class X (High School) Board Certificate / AADHAR as proof of date of birth.
    7.  Pass Certificate and Marks sheet of the qualifying examination.
    8.  Photo ID proof (Adhar card/Ration card/Voter/Pan card)
    9.  Migration certificate from last Institute/Univ. Attended.
    10.  Character and conduct certificate from the institution last attended.
    11.  School Leaving/Transfer certificate.

  3. Payment of Registration Fee: Pay the online registration fee as specified.
  4. Choice Filling: Fill in your preferred choices of NITs and engineering branches during the filling period. Arrange your choices in order of preference.
  5. Merit List Preparation: A merit list will be prepared based on the JEE (Main) scores and the preferences indicated by the candidates.
  6. Seat Allotment: Seat allotment will be done online, and candidates will be allotted seats based on their merit rank and preferred choices.
  7. Online Reporting at Allotted Institute: Candidates allotted seats through DASA must report online to their allotted institute within the specified timeframe. They will be required to upload additional documents and pay the admission fee.
  8. Admission Confirmation: Once the online reporting and document verification are complete, candidates will receive confirmation of their admission.
  9. Physical Reporting at NIT Mizoram: Admitted candidates must physically report to NIT Mizoram on the specified date with the original documents for verification and enrollment.

NIT Mizoram BTech Eligibility Criteria Through DASA

  1. Citizenship: Indian nationals or Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) or Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs) residing abroad
  2. Age: Below 25 years on the date of admission
  3. Educational Qualification: Pass in the qualifying examination (10+2 or equivalent) with at least 70% aggregate marks or 6.50 CGPA (on a 10-point scale)

NIT Mizoram BTech Selection Criteria

  1. Admission to MTech programs at NIT Mizoram through DASA will be based on the marks obtained in the qualifying and DASA entrance exams.
  2. The Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) conducts the DASA entrance exam.
  3. The DASA entrance exam consists of questions from Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
  4. The weightage for the DASA entrance exam is 50%, and the weightage for the qualifying examination is 50%.

NIT Mizoram documents are required for the DASA application.

  1. Applicant's Passport (For nationals of Nepal who do not have a passport, a copy of an authentic citizenship card has to be submitted*). 
  2. Proof of date of birth (Secondary Education Board/ University Certificate [Class X or equivalent] or any certificate issued by the Government authorities). 
  3. Mark sheets/ grade cards of all semesters of the Qualifying examination. 
  4. Degree/ provisional certificate (if degree completed). 
  5. Course completion certificate from the institution (for results awaiting applicants). 
  6. Proof for residential eligibility requirement for Indian Nationals who have completed their undergraduate degree from India, as applicable-Proof for having acquired NRI status and holding it for the last three years after obtaining an undergraduate degree from India/ Proof for having completed an undergraduate degree in any CFTI under the DASA Scheme (Certificate from Institution)
  7. Proof of completing 11th and 12th standard (or equivalent) from outside India (Certificate from School authorities). 
  8. Details and proof of fee payment in case of payment by SWIFT transfer. GRE/ GMAT Score – Scanned copy. 
  9. The qualifying examination's transcripts/ marks/ grade sheets should be self-attested. 
  10. If any supporting documents are in languages other than English or Hindi, authenticated translated copies of the documents in English or Hindi must also be provided. 
  11. A copy of the qualifying exam marks card will be uploaded to the DASA portal as soon as it is available. 
  12. Applicants should submit the original marks card of the qualifying examination and all other documents at the time of admission at the allotted institute or submit it within the dates specified by that institute.

NIT Mizoram MTech Admission Process

  1. Appear for GATE and Score a Valid GATE Score: The GATE score is required for all MTech applicants at NIT Mizoram. The minimum GATE score required varies depending on the program and category.NIT Mizoram offers 2 a long MTech program under four specialisations.
  2. Register for CCMT Counselling: CCMT (Centralized Counselling for MTech) is a centralised counselling process for admission to MTech programs at NITs and other participating institutes. To register for CCMT counselling, visit the CCMT website and create an account.
  3. Fill out the CCMT Application Form: The CCMT application form will require details, academic qualifications, GATE score, and preferred programs and institutes.
  4. Lock Your Choices: Once you have completed the CCMT application form, you must lock your choices. In order of preference, you must finalise the programs and institutes you are interested in.
  5. Participate in CCMT Counselling: CCMT will conduct multiple rounds of counselling. In each round, candidates will be allotted seats based on their GATE score, preferred choices, and the availability of seats.
  6. Accept Your Seat and Pay the Admission Fee: If you are allotted a seat in the CCMT counselling, you must accept it and pay the admission fee within the stipulated time.

NIT Mizoram MTech Eligibility Criteria

  1. Academic qualification: Candidates must have a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) or A Bachelor of Technology (BTech) degree in a relevant discipline with a minimum CGPA of 6.5 or its equivalent, determined by their written test and interview performance.
  2. Entrance exam: Candidates must have qualified for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) for admission to the MTech program. The GATE score will be used for admission through the Centralized Counselling for MTech Admissions (CCMT).
  3. Age limit: The upper age limit for admission to the MTech program is 28 years for General/OBC candidates and 30 years for SC/ST/PwD candidates.

NIT Mizoram MTech Selection Criteria

  1. GATE score normalisation: Candidates will be shortlisted for admission based on their GATE score. The GATE score will be normalised based on the discipline of the BTech degree and the difficulty level of the GATE exam in that discipline.
  2. Written test and interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called for a written test and interview. The written test will be based on the subjects of the BTech degree and the MTech program. The interview will assess the candidate's aptitude for Research and higher studies.
  3. Final selection: The final selection of candidates will be based on the GATE score, written test, interview, and academic performance.

NIT Mizoram PhD Admission Process

  1. Apply Online: 
    1. Visit the official website of NIT Mizoram and register yourself.
    2. Pay the application fee online.
    3. Complete the online application form and upload the necessary documents.
  2. Upload Required Documents: Candidates must upload the required documents once they have paid the application fee. The required documents include: 
    1. A scanned copy of the mark sheet from the Master's degree examination. Scanned a copy of the GATE/NET or UGC-NET/CSIR for the JRF scorecard.
    2. Scanned copy of the provisional/final certificate of the Master's degree.
    3. A scanned copy of the research proposal.
    4. A scanned copy of the passport-size photograph.
  3. Entrance Exam: Candidates must have valid scores in these GATE/NET or UGC-NET/CSIR for JRF entrance exams.
  4. Appear for the Written Test and Interview: Once you have submitted your application form and uploaded the required documents, you will be shortlisted for the written test and interview. The respective departments at NIT Mizoram will conduct the written test and interview.

NIT Mizoram PhD Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualifications

  1. Master's degree in a relevant field with at least 60% aggregate marks or 6.5 CGPA on a 10-point scale.

Entrance Exams

  1. For Full-Time Regular candidates, a valid GATE score is mandatory.
  2. Sponsored, Self-Financed, Project-Staff and Part-Time candidates are not obligated to have NET/GATE qualifications. However, they must maintain a minimum CGPA of 6.0 on a 10-point scale or secure 55% marks in the qualifying examinations and must meet the eligibility criteria for NET qualification.

Relaxations for SC/ST Candidates

  1. Candidates in the SC/ST category are eligible for a relaxation of 0.5 CGPA or 5% in marks in the qualifying examinations.

NIT Mizoram PhD Selection Criteria

  1. The final selection of candidates for PhD admission will be determined by their performance in the written test and interview, academic record, and entrance exam score.
