NIT Meghalaya : Scholarships

NIT Meghalaya (Shillong) offers several scholarships to deserving students, irrespective of their financial or social background. These scholarships are categorized into undergraduate/BTech, Postgraduate, MHRD, and Ph.D. Scholarships, and others. Here are some of the notable scholarship schemes at NIT Meghalaya:

1. BTech Merit Scholarship: 
1. Awarded to the top 5% deserving students in the B.Tech program based on their CGPA in the last semester.
2. Eligibility: Students with a CGPA of 8.5 or above in the previous semester.
3. Benefits: Selected students receive approximately 40% of the tuition fee from the 2nd semester to the 8th semester, along with a certificate of merit.
2. Merit Cum Means Scholarship: 
1. Awarded to the top 5% of B.Tech students in each batch who belong to the non-creamy layer.
2. Eligibility: Students with an annual parental income of INR 4.5 lakhs or less and a CGPA of 7.5 or above.
3. Benefits: Recipients receive 40% of the tuition fee from the 2nd semester to the 8th semester.
3. Chinese Government Scholarship: 
1. Available to NIT Meghalaya students based on specific criteria.
2. Eligibility: Age limits apply for different academic levels. For undergraduate programs, the age limit is 25; for master's degrees, it is 35; and for doctoral programs, it is 40. Candidates should also have scored at least 60% in the required qualifications.
4. Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj Merit Scholarship: 
1. Awarded to students from SC categories who are residents of Maharashtra.
2. Eligibility: The annual family income should be at most INR 4.5 lakhs.
3. Benefits: This scholarship covers the full tuition fee, including hostel and mess charges prescribed by the institution. Additionally, selected candidates receive INR 10,000 annually to purchase notebooks, books, and educational materials.
