NIT Meghalaya Admissions
- NIT Meghalaya offers Admissions for programs like BTech, MTech Msc and PhD.
- For BTech, Admissions are based on the JEE Main Scores and Followed by the JOSSA Counselling Process.
- For MTech Admissions, Rely on The GATE Scores.
- For MSc Admissions are based on the JAM Scores.
- PhD Admissions are based on the GATE Scores and written tests and Interviews conducted by a Panel expert of NIT Meghalaya.
NIT Meghalaya BTech Admission Process
- Appear for JEE Main: The JEE Main is a nationwide entrance examination to gain admission to undergraduate engineering programs in India. It is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
- Register for JoSAA Counselling: The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) conducts centralized online counselling for admission to NITs and other Centrally Funded Technical Institutes (CFTIs). To register for JoSAA counselling, candidates must have a valid JEE Main score.
- Fill in the JoSAA Choice Filling Form: During JoSAA counselling, candidates must fill in a choice filling form indicating their preferred NITs and B.Tech. Programs.
- Seat Allotment: JoSAA will allot seats to candidates based on their JEE Main score, rank, and choices.
- Accept Seat and Pay Fee: Once a candidate is allotted a seat, they must accept it and pay the required fees to NIT Meghalaya.
NIT Meghalaya BTech Eligibility Criteria
- To be eligible, candidates must secure a minimum of 75% marks for the General category and 65% for the SC/ST category in their 10+2 examination.
- Candidates in the top 20 percentile in the 10+2 examination conducted by their respective boards are also eligible to apply.
NIT Meghalaya BTech Selection Criteria
- Admission to the program is contingent on a candidate's performance in the JEE Main entrance examination.
- Following their participation in the JoSAA Counseling procedure, candidates are assigned seats.
NIT Meghalaya MTech Admission Process
- Appear for GATE and score a valid GATE score: The GATE score is required for all MTech applicants at NIT Meghalaya. The minimum GATE score required varies depending on the program and category.
- Register for CCMT counselling: CCMT (Centralized Counselling for MTech is a centralized counselling process for admission to MTech programs at NITs and other participating institutes. To register for CCMT counselling, visit the CCMT website and create an account.
- Fill out the CCMT application form: The CCMT application form will require details, academic qualifications, GATE score, and preferred programs and institutes.
- Lock your choices: Once you have completed the CCMT application form, you must lock your choices. In order of preference, you must finalize the programs and institutes you are interested in.
- Participate in CCMT counselling: CCMT will conduct multiple rounds of counselling. In each round, candidates will be allotted seats based on their GATE score, preferred choices, and the availability of seats.
- Accept your seat and pay the admission fee: If you are allotted a seat in the CCMT counselling, you must accept and pay it within the stipulated time.
For MTech (Part-Time) Admissions
- For admission to the MTech (Part-Time) program, the selection process includes a written test conducted by the institute, evaluation of academic scores, consideration of valid GATE scores, and assessment of work experience.
- To be eligible for the M.Tech program (Part-Time), candidates must have a minimum of two years of professional experience in the following sub-categories:
- Computer Science
- Electronics and Communication Engineering
- Power and Energy Systems
- Fluids and Thermal Engineering
NIT Meghalaya MTech Eligibility Criteria
- The minimum eligibility to apply for the M.Tech program is a BTech/BE degree with a minimum CGPA of 6.5 out of 10. Admission to the MTech program is based on the GATE exam and is facilitated through counselling conducted by the Centralized Counselling for M.Tech (CCMT).
NIT Meghalaya MTech Selection Criteria
- Candidates' eligibility for the program is determined by their ranking in the GATE entrance examination for regular Students.
- For the Part-Time course, the candidate must be a regular employee of the organization or institute.
- The GATE exam is not mandatory for candidates choosing the MTech program on a Part-Time basis.
NIT Meghalaya MSc Admission Process
- Register for JAM (Joint Admission Test for MSc) and appear in the desired subject for the exam.
- Written Tests for the MSc course will be conducted based on topics given by the institute.
- Once the JAM results are announced, register for CCMN and choose NIT Meghalaya as one of your preferred institutes.
- Fill in the CCMN application form and upload all the required documents.
- Attend the CCMN counselling and choose NIT Meghalaya for your desired MSc program.
- If you are allotted a seat in NIT Meghalaya, accept the seat and pay the required fees.
- Report to the institute on the specified date for document verification and admission formalities.
Through Institute Mode
- Visit the NIT Meghalaya website and download the MSc admission application form.
- Complete the application form and attach all the necessary documents.
- Submit the application form to the NIT Meghalaya admissions office.
- Shortlisted candidates will receive interview invitations. The final selection will be based on their performance during the interview and their position on the merit list.
- Vacant seats after CCMN counselling are filled through Institute Mode. The selection process for Institute Mode admission is based on the candidate's academic performance in their qualifying degree and their performance in an entrance examination and interview conducted by the institute.
NIT Meghalaya MSc Eligibility Criteria
- Candidates must have a Bachelor of Science (BSc.) degree in a relevant subject with at least 60% marks (55% for SC/ST/PwD candidates). Mathematics is compulsory in the 10+2 level and all semesters of UG.
NIT Meghalaya MSc Selection Criteria

NIT Meghalaya PhD Admission Process
- Apply Online:
- Visit the official website of NIT Meghalaya and register yourself.
- Pay the application fee online.
- Complete the online application form and upload the necessary documents.
- Upload Required Documents: Candidates must upload the required documents once they have paid the application fee. The required documents include:
- A scanned copy of the mark sheet from the master's degree examination.Scanned copy of the GATE scorecard.
- Scanned copy of the provisional/final certificate of the master's degree.
- A scanned copy of the research proposal.
- A scanned copy of the passport-size photograph.
- Entrance exam: Candidates must have valid scores in these GATE entrance exams.
- Appear for the Written Test and Interview: Once you have submitted your application form and uploaded the required documents, you will be shortlisted for the written test and interview. The respective departments/centres at NIT Meghalaya will conduct the written test and interview.
NIT Meghalaya PhD Eligibility Criteria
- Candidates should have completed a Master's degree in Engineering, Science, Technology, Management Science, or Arts with a minimum of 60% marks or an equivalent CGPA.
- Alternatively, candidates with a BE./BA Tech degree, a minimum of 75% marks, and a valid GATE score are eligible to apply.
- For admission to the Ph.D. program in Humanities & Social Sciences, a minimum of 55% marks in the master's degree is required.
NIT Meghalaya PhD Selection Criteria
- The final selection of PhD candidates will be based on their performance in the written test and interview, academic record, and research potential.
