NIT Delhi Admissions

NIT Delhi BTech Admission Process

  1. Appear for JEE Main: All candidates aspiring to BTech at NIT Delhi must appear for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main. JEE Main is a nationwide entrance examination administered by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The institute offers a 4-year BTech program with three specialisations.
  2. Apply for JoSAA Counselling: Once qualified for JEE Main, you need to apply for the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) counselling. JoSAA is a centralised counselling process for admission to various engineering colleges in India, including NIT Delhi.
  3. Select Your Preferred Colleges and Courses: In the JoSAA application form, you must select your preferred colleges and courses. You can select up to 100 colleges and courses in the order of your preference.
  4. Lock Your Choices: Once you have selected your preferred colleges and courses, you must lock your choices. Once you have locked your choices, you cannot change your application.
  5. Participate in JoSAA Counselling: JoSAA counselling is conducted in multiple rounds. In each round, you will be allotted a seat based on your JEE Main rank, your preferences, and the availability of seats.
  6. Accept Your Seat: If you are allotted a seat in a round of JoSAA counselling, you must accept the seat within the stipulated period. It would be best if you accepted the seat to be considered for subsequent rounds of counselling.
  7. Report to the Allotted College: Once you have accepted your seat, you must report to the allotted College on the specified date. You must carry all the required documents, such as your JEE Main admit Card, scorecard, and class 12th mark sheet.

NIT Delhi BTech Eligibility Criteria

  1. Nationality: Indian citizens, Overseas Citizens of India (O.C.I.), or Persons of Indian Origin (PIO.)
  2. Qualifying Examination: Completed or taken the final 12th standard or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as mandatory subjects.
  3. Percentage Requirement: Secured at least 75% marks in aggregate (65% for SC/ST/PwD) in the qualifying examination.
  4. JEE Main: Appeared and qualified in the JEE Main examination.

NIT Delhi BTech Admission Process Through DASA

  1. Registration: The application process for DASA admissions is online. Candidates must create an account on the DASA website and complete the online application form, which will necessitate candidates to furnish personal details, educational qualifications, and test scores.   3. Entrance Exam: Candidates must take the SAT or ACT. The minimum SAT score required is 1450, and the minimum ACT score required is 32.
  4. Merit List: A merit list will be compiled based on the candidates' SAT/ACT scores and qualifying examination marks. This list will be utilised to select candidates for the counselling process.
  5. Counselling: Shortlisted candidates will be invited for counselling. During counselling, candidates can choose their preferred NIT and course.
  6. Seat Allotment: Seats will be allocated to candidates based on their preferences and availability.
  7. Admission: Applicants must pay the admission fee and submit the required documents to the allotted NIT.

NIT Delhi BTech Eligibility Criteria Through DASA

  1. Be a foreign national, Person of Indian Origin (PIO), or Non-Resident Indian (NRI).
  2. Have passed the qualifying examination (12th standard or equivalent) with a minimum of 60% marks in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry (or Biology for Biotechnology courses).
  3. Have a valid SAT/ACT score.

NIT Delhi MTech Admission Process

  1. Appear for GATE and Score a Valid GATE Score: The GATE score is required for all MTech applicants at NIT Delhi. The minimum GATE score required varies depending on the program and category. NIT Delhi offers two extended MTech programs under six specialisations.
  2. Register for CCMT Counselling: CCMT (Centralized Counselling for MTech) is a centralised counselling process for admission to MTech programs at NITs and other participating institutes. To register for CCMT counselling, visit the CCMT website and create an account.
  3. Fill out the CCMT Application Form: The CCMT application form will require details, academic qualifications, GATE score, and preferred programs and institutes.
  4. Lock Your Choices: Once you have completed the CCMT application form, you must lock your choices. In order of preference, you must finalise the programs and institutes you are interested in.
  5. Participate in CCMT Counselling: CCMT will conduct multiple rounds of counselling. In each round, candidates will be allotted seats based on their GATE score, preferred choices, and the availability of seats.
  6. Accept Your Seat and Pay the Admission Fee: If you are allotted a seat in the CCMT counselling, you must accept it and pay the admission fee within the stipulated time.

NIT Delhi MTech Eligibility Criteria

  1. Nationality: Indian citizens, Overseas Citizens of India (O.C.I.), or Persons of Indian Origin (PIO.)
  2. Qualifying Examination: Passed BE/BTech Degree in the relevant branch of engineering or science With a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate (50% for SC/ST/PwD).
  3. GATE Score: Valid GATE score in the same branch where admission is sought.

NIT Delhi MTech Selection Criteria

  1. GATE score normalisation: Candidates will be shortlisted for admission based on their GATE score. The GATE score will be normalised based on the discipline of the BTech degree and the difficulty level of the GATE exam in that discipline.
  2. Written test and interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called for a written test and interview. The written test will be based on the subjects of the BTech degree and the MTech program. The interview will assess the candidate's aptitude for research and higher studies.
  3. Final selection: The final selection of candidates will be based on the GATE score, written test, interview, and academic performance.

NIT Delhi PhD Admission Process

  1. Apply Online: 
    1. Visit the official website of NIT Delhi and register yourself.
    2. Pay the application fee online.
    3. Complete the online application form and upload the necessary documents.
  2. Upload Required Documents: Candidates must upload the required documents once they have paid the application fee. The required documents include: 
    1. A scanned copy of the mark sheet from the Master's degree examination. Scanned a copy of the GATE/NET or UGC/CSIR for the JRF scorecard.
    2. Scanned copy of the provisional/final certificate of the Master's degree.
    3. A scanned copy of the research proposal.
    4. A scanned copy of the passport-size photograph.

NIT Delhi PhD Eligibility Criteria

Master's Degree:

  1. Candidates must have a Master's Degree in the appropriate branch under the Engineering/Science/Humanities and Social Sciences/Management Studies/Architecture departments with a minimum score of 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA.

Bachelor's Degree:

  1. For candidates with a Master's Degree in Engineering/Technology, a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/Technology in the relevant area of research is required With a minimum of 70% marks or an equivalent CGPA.
  2. For candidates with a Master's Degree in Science, a Bachelor's Degree in Science in the appropriate branch is required with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent CGPA.

Research Experience:

  1. Candidates with a Master's Degree in Engineering/Technology and a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/Technology With a minimum of 70% marks or an equivalent CGPA may be considered for admission without research experience.
  2. All other candidates should have at least one year of full-time research experience in a recognised research institution or industry.
