Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology Bhopal, commonly known as NIT Bhopal, is a publicly funded technical university in Madhya Pradesh, India. Its origins trace back to 1960 when it was established as the Regional Institute of Technology Bhopal (RIT Bhopal). The institution underwent a name change to MANIT Bhopal in 1986. In 2002, it attained the status of a National Institute of Technology, and in 2007, the NIT Act officially designated it as an Institute of National Importance. The oversight of MANIT Bhopal is under the purview of the NIT Council, which operates with complete sponsorship from the Ministry of Education, Government of India.
