IIT Kharagpur [IITKGP] : Hostel

IIT Kharagpur has a total of 20 halls of residence for students, both undergraduate and postgraduate. The hostels are fully residential, and students cannot stay off-campus.

The hostel rooms are generally spacious and well-maintained. They are equipped with a bed, cupboard, study table, chair, and LAN port for each student. Some hostels also have attached bathrooms, while others have shared bathrooms.

All the hostels have 24x7 internet connectivity, and most have a standard room, music room, library, sports, and cultural facilities. Technology Gymkhana arranges inter-hall events like Illumination, Rangoli, and Garden competitions.

Here are some of the hostel facilities at IIT Kharagpur:

1. Accommodation: All the hostels have single, double, triple, and quadruple sharing rooms. Some hostels also have AC rooms.
2. Mess: The mess provides three meals a day to the students. The food is generally excellent and hygienic.
3. Medical facilities: There is a doctor's clinic in each hostel. Students can be taken to the institute's health centre in severe medical emergencies.
4. Sports facilities: All the hostels have a sports room with facilities for various sports like cricket, football, basketball, table tennis, and badminton.
5. Cultural facilities: Most hostels have a standard room with a TV, music system, and books. Some hostels also have a library and a cultural centre.
6. Internet connectivity: All the hostels have 24x7 internet connectivity.
7. Gym: Some hostels have a gym with modern equipment.
8. Laundry: Some hostels have a laundry service where students can wash and iron their clothes.
