IIT Kharagpur Admissions

  1. IIT Kharagpur offers Admissions for various courses requiring national entrance examinations for admissions. like BTech, BArc, MTech, MArch, MSc, MBA, LLB, LLM, PhD, MMST, Integrated courses,
  2. Admission to BTech and BTech Arc programs at IIT Kharagpur is based on performance in the JEE Main and Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced. 
  3. Admission to MTech and MTech Arc programs is based on the performance in the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE).
  4.  For MSc Admissions, rely on the Joint Admission Test for Masters (JAM). MBA admissions are based on the Common Admission Test (CAT). 
  5. For LLB, LLM and MMST Admissions, The institute conducts the written test, computer-based test (CBT), and interviews.

IIT Kharagpur BTech Admission Process

  1. JEE Main: Candidates must appear for and qualify for JEE Main to be eligible to appear for JEE Advanced.
  2. JEE Advanced: Candidates must appear for and qualify for JEE Advanced to be eligible for admission to BTech at IIT Kharagpur.
  3. JoSAA Counselling: After announcing the JEE Advanced results, candidates must register for JoSAA counselling. In the counselling, candidates can choose their preferred IIT and BTech programmes.

IIT Kharagpur BTech Eligibility Criteria

  1. The candidate must have passed Class 12 from a recognized board with a minimum of 75% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
  2. Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates must have a minimum of 65% and 50% marks in Class 12, respectively.

IIT Kharagpur BTech Arc Admission Process

  1. Qualify JEE Main and JEE Advanced: The first step is to qualify for JEE Main and JEE Advanced. The JEE Main is a national-level entrance exam for undergraduate engineering programs in India. The JEE Advanced is a more difficult exam for students who qualify for JEE Main.
  2. Take the Architecture Aptitude Test (AAT): After qualifying for JEE Advanced, you must take the Architecture Aptitude Test (AAT) conducted by IIT Kharagpur. The AAT is a 2-hour exam that tests your knowledge of basic concepts in architecture.
  3. Apply through JoSAA: Once qualified for the AAT, you must apply for admission through the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA). JoSAA is a centralized admission process for all IITs.

IIT Kharagpur BTech Arc Eligibility Criteria

  1. A category-wise merit list will be compiled, considering the 12th exam results, JEE Main, and JEE Advanced/AAT score. This list will display candidates' All India Rank (AIR).
  2. Candidates must complete online registration for counselling on the official JoSAA website. Candidates must perform the task of choice filling and locking personally.
  3. Candidates should fill in their branch choices in descending order of preference.

IIT Kharagpur MTech Admission Process

  1. GATE Score: Candidates must have a valid GATE score in the relevant discipline. The GATE score is valid for three years from the year of the declaration of results. The GATE score is the primary criterion for admission to MTech at IIT Kharagpur. The cutoff for admission varies from department to department.

IIT Kharagpur MTech Eligibility Criteria

IIT Kharagpur MBA Eligibility Criteria

  1. A Bachelor's degree of minimum 4-year duration in engineering, technology, pharmacy, medicine, or similar disciplines.
  2. A Master's degree in Science/Economics/Commerce (with Mathematics or Statistics at Bachelor's level);
  3. With: General/NC-OBC: Minimum of 60% marks (or CGPA of 6.5 on a 10-point scale) SC/ST/PwD: Minimum of 55% marks (or CGPA of 6.0 on a 10-point scale)

  1. Application: Candidates must apply online through the IIT Kharagpur ERP portal. The application fee is Rs. 1600 for General & NC-OBC candidates and Rs. 800 for SC/ST/PwD candidates.
  2. CAT Score: Candidates must have appeared for the CAT examinations.

IIT Kharagpur LLM Admission Process

  1. Application: The application form can be completed online on the IIT Kharagpur website. The application fee is INR 3000 for general category candidates and INR 1500 for reserved category candidates.
  2. Entrance Test: The entrance test is a Computer-Based Test (CBT) of 2 hours duration. It consists of multiple-choice questions from the following subjects:

IIT Kharagpur LLM Eligibility Criteria

  1. Bachelor of Laws (LLM) degree from any recognized university with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks or CGPA of 6.0.
  2. Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree and a bachelor's degree in humanities/science/commerce or equivalent from any recognized university with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks or CGPA of 6.0.
  3. Students with an LLB (Hons.) in Intellectual Property Law from the IIT Kharagpur with a CGPA of 8.5 or above are eligible for admission without appearing in the entrance exam.
  4. Applicants from the reserved categories (SC/ST/PWD) are eligible for a 5% relaxation in the qualifying examination marks.

IIT Kharagpur LLM Selection Criteria

  1. The final selection of candidates depends on the entrance test computer-based (CBT), consisting of multiple-choice questions on law. The weightage of the CBT will be 70%, and the personal interview will have a weightage of 30%.

IIT Kharagpur LLB Admission Process

  1. Application: The application form can be filled out online on the official website of IIT Kharagpur. The application fee is INR 2500 (INR 1250 for SC/ST/PWD).
  2. Entrance Exam: The entrance exam will be conducted in an online computer-based mode. There will be around 170 multiple-choice questions from various subjects such as mathematics, English, science, legal aptitude and logical reasoning.
  3. Interview: Candidates shortlisted in the entrance exam will be called for an interview round. The discussion will be conducted to assess the candidate's personality, communication skills and aptitude for law.
  4. Merit List: The final merit list will be prepared based on the entrance exam and interview marks.

IIT Kharagpur LLB Eligibility Criteria

  1. First-class Bachelor's degree in engineering/technology/medicine or equivalent.
  2. First-class master's degree in science or pharmacy or equivalent.
  3. The first-class MBA degree with any of the above.
  4. If the degree awarding institute does not explicitly mention "First Class", then the eligibility will be a minimum of 60% marks or a CGPA of 6.5 on 10 10-point scale. (55% for SC/ST/PWD) in aggregate.

IIT Kharagpur LLB Selection Criteria

  1. Final Selection to the IIT Kharagpur LLB. The program is ultimately determined through an entrance examination and an interview conducted by the institute.

IIT Kharagpur Integrated [BSc+MSc] Admission process.

  1. Application: The Integrated MSc. The program application form can be completed online on the IIT Kharagpur website. The application fee is INR 1000 for General/OBC candidates and INR 500 for SC/ST/PwD candidates.
  2. Take the JEE Main exam: The exam is a computer-based test (CBT) and consists of two papers: Paper 1 (Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics) and Paper 2 (Mathematics). The exam is held over two sessions.
  3. Qualify for JEE Advanced: Candidates in the JEE Main exam can appear for the JEE Advanced exam. The exam is also a CBT and consists of two papers: Paper 1 (Physics and Mathematics) and Paper 2 (Chemistry).
  4. Register for JoSAA Counselling: The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) is a centralized admission process for all IITs. After qualifying for the JEE Advanced exam, candidates must register for JoSAA counselling. 
  5. Participate in JoSAA Counselling: During the JoSAA counselling process, candidates can rank their preferences for the IITs and the courses they offer. The seats will be allocated to the candidates based on their JEE Advanced score, preferences, and availability.

IIT Kharagpur Integrated [BSc+MSc] Eligibility Criteria

  1. The candidate must have passed Class 12 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects.
  2. The candidate must have secured at least 75% aggregate marks in the Class 12 (or equivalent) examination. (65% for SC, ST, and PwD candidates).
  3. The candidate must be within the category-wise top 20 percentile in their respective Class 12 (or equivalent) board examination, with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects.
  4. The candidate must have qualified for JEE Main and JEE Advanced examinations.

IIT Kharagpur Integrated [BSc+MSc] Selection Criteria

  1. Initial shortlisting of candidates will rely on the JEE Main and JEE Advanced cutoffs established by the institute.
  2. The conclusive selection process will be executed via JoSAA counselling.
  3. JEE Advanced rank, seat availability, categories, and additional considerations will guide seat allocation.

IIT Kharagpur MSc Admission Process

  2.  JAM Exam: Candidates must qualify for the JAM exam to be eligible for admission to MSc. programs at IIT Kharagpur. 
  3. CCMCN Counseling: The IITs conduct a standard counselling process called CCMN Counseling for admission to MSc. programs. Candidates who have qualified for the IIT JAM exam and have been shortlisted by the respective IITs will be invited to participate in the CCMN counselling process.
  4. Document Verification and Fee Payment: After being allotted a seat in the CCMN counselling process, candidates must report to the respective IIT for document verification and fee payment.

IIT Kharagpur MSc Eligibility Criteria

  1. The candidate must have passed a Bachelor's degree in the relevant discipline of science and engineering fields.
  2. Candidates must have secured a minimum of 55% marks or 6.0 CGPA in graduation.
  3. Candidates from SC/ST/PwD categories must have secured a minimum of 50% marks or 5.5 CGPA in graduation.

IIT Kharagpur Integrated MSc+PhD Admission process

IIT Kharagpur PGDBA Admission Process

  1. Application: The application process is online and can be found on the PGDBA website. The application fee is INR 2500/- for general category candidates and INR 1250/- for SC/ST/PwD candidates.
  2. Entrance Exam Computer-Based Test (CBT): The CBT is a 3-hour online test held in multiple cities across India. The test will consist of questions on quantitative aptitude, logical reasoning, data interpretation, and general business awareness.

IIT Kharagpur PGDBA Eligibility Criteria

  1. Must have a graduate/postgraduate degree with 10+2+4 or 10+2+5 or 10+2+3+2, with at least 60% marks or CGPA 6.5 on a 10-point scale in the Qualifying Degree (i.e., B. Tech./BE/ MSc./ M.Com. or equivalent). A one-year MBA will not be considered equal to MSc./ M.Com.

IIT Kharagpur MMST Admission Process

  1. Application: The application form can be completed online on the IIT Kharagpur website. The application fee is Rs. 1500/- for General/EWS/OBC Male/Transgender candidates and Rs. 750/- for all Female or SC/ST/PwD candidates. 
  2. Entrance exam: The selection is based on the performance of the candidates in a computer-based test (CBT) of 2 hours duration. 
  3. Merit List: The candidates will be ranked based on their performance in the CBT. The top 100 candidates will be called for an interview.
  4. Interview: The interview will be conducted by a panel of experts from IIT Kharagpur. The discussion will comprehensively assess the candidate's academic and research potential.

IIT Kharagpur MMST Eligibility Criteria

  1. MBBS degree from a medical college recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI) with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate.
  2. Having passed Mathematics at 10+2 level (even as an additional subject) or from any recognized Open University.
  3. EWS/OBC (Non-creamy)/SC/ST/PD certificate (if applicable).
  4. Internship Certificate.

IIT Kharagpur MMST Selection Criteria

  1. Final Selection: The final selection of candidates will be based on the marks obtained in the CBT and the interview.
