VNIT Nagpur : Admissions

VNIT Nagpur offers various admission programs, including BTech, BTech Architecture (BArch), MSc, MTech, and PhD. For BTech/BArch admissions at VNIT Nagpur, candidates are selected based on their JEE Main scores, followed by participation in the JoSAA counselling process. The JAM (Joint Admission Test for MSc) score determines admission to the MSc program. In contrast, MTech admissions are determined by their GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) scores. PhD admissions at VNIT Nagpur require candidates to have a GATE qualification or a valid NET/GPAT score. Selection is based on previous academic records, a written examination, and a personal interview conducted by a panel of experts at VNIT Nagpur.

1. Take the JEE Main Examination: The JEE Main examination is conducted in a computer-based format. It is conducted in two sessions, each of 3 hours duration. The examination is held in multiple centres across the country.
2. Apply for JoSAA Counselling: JoSAA is a centralised counselling process for admission to BTech. Courses in NITs and other centrally funded technical institutions. The application form for JoSAA counselling can be filled out online on the JoSAA website.
3. Choose VNIT Nagpur as your Preferred Choice: In the JoSAA counselling, you can choose VNIT Nagpur as your preferred choice. Seats will be allocated based on your JEE Main rank and the preferences you indicate.
4. Report to VNIT Nagpur for Admission: If you are allotted a seat in VNIT Nagpur, you must report to the institute for admission. The reporting dates and procedures will be mentioned in the JoSAA allotment letter.

1. Candidates must have completed their 10+2 or equivalent examinations with mandatory subjects in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and English.
2. Minimum aggregate of 75% marks (65% for SC/ST/PwD) in 10+2.
3. Can be relaxed up to 5% for candidates from rural areas and those belonging to the Scheduled Tribes/Scheduled Castes/Persons with Disabilities (PwD) categories.
4. Must have appeared and qualified for the JEE Main exam.

1. Apply for the JEE Main Exam: JEE Main is a nationwide entrance examination that grants access to undergraduate engineering programs across India. The application procedure for the JEE Main examination is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
2. Write the JEE Main Exam: The qualifying percentile for admission to VNIT Nagpur is 750 in the general category and 650 in the reserved categories.
3. Register for JoSAA Counselling: JoSAA is a centralised counselling system for admission to BTech/B.Arch programs in NITs and other participating institutes. The NTA conducts the application process for JoSAA counselling.
4. Participate in JoSAA counselling: JoSAA counselling is conducted in multiple rounds. In each round, candidates are ranked based on their JEE Main scores and preferences. Candidates are allotted seats in the institutes based on their rank and availability of seats.
5. Report to VNIT Nagpur: After being allotted a seat at VNIT Nagpur, you must report to the institute in person. The reporting process involves submitting the required documents and paying the admission fees.

1. To be eligible, candidates must have completed their 12th-grade examination (or its equivalent) with mandatory subjects including Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Drawing.
2.  Additionally, candidates should have obtained a minimum aggregate score of 50% in the qualifying examination.

3. The final admission is done through the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) counselling.

2. Pay the application fee of INR 1000 for general category candidates or INR 500 for SC/ST/PwD candidates.
3. Appear for the GATE exam, held in morning and afternoon shifts, with a 3-hour duration.
4. Apply for MTech at VNIT Nagpur Through CCMT: The Common Counseling for M.Tech. (CCMT) is a centralised admission process for MTech programs in NITs. 
5. Participate in CCMT Counseling: In the CCMT counselling, you will be ranked based on your GATE score and your preferences for the MTech programs. You will be allotted a seat in the program of your choice, subject to the availability of seats.
6. Pay the Admission Fee and Submit the Required Documents: Once you have been allotted a seat in MTech at VNIT Nagpur, Candidates must pay the admission fee and submit the required documents. 
7. Report to the Institute: The reporting date for MTech students at VNIT Nagpur will be announced in due course. You will need to report to the institute with all the required documents.

2. Application Completion: You can complete the application form for the IIT JAM exam online through the official exam website.
3. Download the CCMN Application Form: The Common Counseling for MSc. (CCMN) is a centralised counselling process for admission to MSc. programs in NITs and other centrally funded technical institutions. The application form for the CCMN can be downloaded from the official website of the CCMN.
4. Pay the Application Fee: The application fee for the CCMN is INR 1000. You have the option to make the payment of the fee online using either a credit card or a debit card.
5. Submit the CCMN Application Form: The CCMN application form must be submitted online by the deadline.
6. Wait for the CCMN Seat Allotment: The CCMN seat allotment will be done based on the IIT JAM scores and the choices filled by the applicants. The seat allotment results will be posted on the official website of CCMN.
7. Report to the Institute: If you are allotted a seat at VNIT Nagpur, you must report to the institute on the specified date. You should carry the original documents with you.

2. Additionally, candidates must have taken the IIT JAM exam and secured a minimum score of 60% (55% for reserved category candidates).

1. The selection will be based on the candidate's IIT JAM score and their ranking in the CCMN (Common Counseling for Master of Science) counselling.

1. GATE qualification or valid NET/GPAT Score: The candidate must have qualified for the GATE exam in the relevant discipline or have a valid NET/GPAT score. The GATE score is accepted for all the departments, while the NET/GPAT score is accepted for some departments only. The list of departments that accept NET/GPAT scores is available on the VNIT website.
2. Research proposal approved by a professor: The candidate must have a research proposal approved by a professor in the relevant department. The research proposal should be based on a topic of current interest and feasible to complete within the stipulated period.
3. Shortlisting of applications: The applications will be shortlisted based on the candidate's academic performance, research proposal, and GATE/NET score. 
4. Interview: Shortlisted candidates will receive invitations for interviews. These interviews will be administered by a panel of professors affiliated with the respective department. The interview will allow the candidate to present their research proposal and answer questions from the panel.

1. Final selection: The candidate's final selection will depend on their performance in the interview. Those who are selected will receive notification via email.

1. To be eligible, candidates must hold a Master's degree in a relevant discipline from a recognised university with a minimum CGPA of 6.75 (or 8.5 in the first two semesters).
