NIT Calicut Scholarships

NIT Calicut provides a variety of scholarships to its students across the diverse programs it offers. Each scholarship offered by NIT Calicut has its specific eligibility criteria, and each student is eligible for only one scholarship, provided they meet the minimum requirements. Students must also renew their scholarships each semester or year without academic backlogs. Here are some of the popular scholarships available at NIT Calicut:

  1. Merit Cum Means Scholarship: 
    1. The Merit Cum Means (MCM) Scholarship is awarded to deserving students belonging to minority communities.
    2. To be eligible for the MCM Scholarship, candidates must have obtained at least 50% marks in their most recent qualifying examinations.
    3. Students should have an annual family income not exceeding INR 2,50,000 from all sources.
    4. Scholarship recipients receive INR 25,000 per annum (INR 30,000 per annum for hostellers).
  2. E-Grantz: 
    1. E-Grantz is a web-based solution designed for the timely disbursement of educational assistance to post-matric students from SC/ST/OBC categories in Kerala.
    2. Eligibility for E-Grantz is limited to students whose parents are permanent residents of Kerala with an annual family income below INR 6 lakhs.
    3. Students must maintain a minimum attendance of 75% to avail E-Grantz benefits.
    4. The benefits of E-Grantz encompass the reimbursement of all fees, excluding the caution deposit, provision of mess fees up to INR 3,500 per month, distribution of a laptop computer at the start of the course, and the allocation of pocket money amounting to INR 250 per month for hostellers and INR 750 per month for day scholars.
  3. Central Sector – Top Class for SC/ST Students: 
    1. The Central Sector Top Class Scholarship Scheme is dedicated to students from the SC/ST categories to promote quality education among them.
    2. Students from SC/ST categories nationwide with an annual family income of less than INR 4,50,000 are eligible for this scholarship.
    3. This scholarship is entirely merit-based, and a student's previous academic performance determines the renewal of the award.
    4. Benefits of the scholarship include a full tuition fee waiver, hostel expenses up to INR 2,200 per month, provision of a laptop/computer worth INR 45,000 at the beginning of the course, and INR 3,000 for books and stationery expenses.
