NIT Puducherry : Admissions

1. NIT Puducherry offers Admissions For BTech, MTech, and PhD. Programs.
2. BTech Admissions Are based on the JEE Main scores and Followed by the JoSSA Counselling process.
3. For MTech Admissions based on the GATE Scores. which follow the CCMT Counselling Process.
4. PhD Admissions are Based on these entrance exams: GATE/NET or UGC-NET/CSIR for JRF., which follow written tests and interviews. The panel of experts conducts the interviews by the NIT Puducherry.

1. Appear for JEE Main: The JEE Main is a nationwide entrance examination to gain admission to undergraduate engineering programs in India. It is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
2. Register for JoSAA Counselling: The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) conducts centralized online counselling for admission to NITs and other Centrally Funded Technical Institutes (CFTIs). To register for JoSAA counselling, candidates must have a valid JEE Main score.
3. Fill in the JoSAA Choice Filling Form: During JoSAA counselling, candidates must fill in a choice filling form indicating their preferred NITs and BTechs. Programs.
4. Seat Allotment: JoSAA will allot seats to candidates based on their JEE Main score, rank, and choices.
5. Accept Seat and Pay Fee: Once a candidate is allotted a seat, they must accept it and pay the required fees to NIT Puducherry.
6. Report to NIT Puducherry: If you have been allocated a seat at NIT Puducherry, you must report to the college within the specified date and time. You must carry all the required documents, including your JEE Main admit card, rank card, and provisional admission letter.

1. To be eligible for admission, you should have completed the 10+2 examination from a recognized board with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as mandatory subjects. A minimum aggregate of 60% marks in the 10+2 examination is required.

The Direct Admission of Students Abroad (DASA) is a program offered by the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India, to facilitate international students seeking admission to various higher education institutions in India. Through DASA, international students can apply for BTech programs at NIT Puducherry.

1. Registration: Create an account on the DASA portal.
2. Filling Up Application Form: Complete all necessary fields in the online application form, providing details such as personal information, educational background, and preferred course.
3. Uploading Documents: Upload scanned copies of the required documents, such as passport, qualifying examination certificate, mark sheets, and other supporting documents.
4. Payment of Application Fee: Pay the application fee through online mode.
5. Submitting Application: Review the application carefully and submit it online.

1. Applicants must be a citizen of a foreign country.
2. Applicants must have passed the qualifying examination with at least 60% marks or 6.50 CGPA on a 10-point scale or equivalent.
3. Applicants must have appeared for the qualifying examination in the academic year they are applying for admission.
4. Applicants must have completed their 12th/equivalent level of education in the science stream.
5. Applicants must have a valid passport.

1. Selection for BTech programs at NIT Puducherry through DASA is based on merit, considering the applicant's scores in the qualifying examination and their ranking in the DASA merit list.

1. Appear for GATE and Score a valid GATE Score: The GATE score is required for all MTech applicants at NIT Puducherry. The minimum GATE score required varies depending on the program and category.
2. Register for CCMT Counselling: CCMT (Centralized Counselling for MTech is a centralized counselling process for admission to MTech programs at NITs and other participating institutes. To register for CCMT counselling, visit the CCMT website and create an account.
3. Fill out the CCMT Application form: The CCMT application form will require details, academic qualifications, GATE score, and preferred programs and institutes.
4. Lock your Choices: Once you have completed the CCMT application form, you must lock your choices. In order of preference, you must finalize the programs and institutes you are interested in.
5. Participate in CCMT Counselling: CCMT will conduct multiple rounds of counselling. In each round, candidates will be allotted seats based on their GATE score, preferred choices, and the availability of seats.
6. Accept your Seat and Pay the Admission fee: If you are allotted a seat in the CCMT counselling, you must accept and pay it within the stipulated time.

To meet the criteria for admission, you should hold a B.E/B.Tech. or an equivalent degree in the relevant field from a recognized university or institute with a First-Class designation and a cumulative score of at least 60% or an equivalent CGPA of 6.5/10. Additionally, you should have successfully cleared the GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) in the corresponding subject.

1. Candidates' eligibility for the program is determined by their ranking in the GATE entrance examination.
2. Seat allocation occurs after the conclusion of the CCMT counselling process.

1. Apply Online: 
1. Visit the official website of NIT Puducherry and register yourself.
2. Pay the application fee online.
3. Complete the online application form and upload the necessary documents.
2. Upload Required Documents: Candidates must upload the required documents once they have paid the application fee. The required documents include: 
1. A scanned copy of the mark sheet from the Master's degree examination.Scanned copy of the GATE/NET or UGC-NET/CSIR for JRF scorecard.
2. Scanned copy of the provisional/final certificate of the Master's degree.
3. A scanned copy of the research proposal.
4. A scanned copy of the passport-size photograph.
3. Appear for Entrance Exam: Candidates must have valid scores in these GATE/NET or UGC-NET/CSIR for JRF entrance exams.
4. Appear for the Written Test and Interview: Once you have submitted your application form and uploaded the required documents, you will be shortlisted for the written test and interview. The respective departments/centres at NIT Puducherry will conduct the written test and interview.

Educational Qualifications

1. Full-time PhD Program: Master's degree in relevant discipline with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks or a CGPA of 6.5/10.
2. Part-time PhD Program: Master's degree in a relevant discipline with a should have at least 60% aggregate marks or a CGPA of 6.5/10. Additionally, candidates must have at least two years of experience in a regular/permanent position in the organization at the time of application. The college/organization must have at least five years of existence for patronizing candidates to the part-time PhD program. This category is limited to institutions within a radius of 300 km from NIT Puducherry.

Entrance Exams

1. Full-time PhD Program: Candidates must qualify in the UGC NET or GATE exam.
2. Part-time PhD Program: No entrance exam is required for part-time PhD candidates.

Reservation of Seats

1. Full-time PhD Program: 15% of seats are reserved for Scheduled Castes (SC), 7.5% for Scheduled Tribes (ST), 27% for Other Backward Classes (OBC), and 3% for Persons with Disabilities (PwD).
2. Part-time PhD Program: No reservation of seats is applicable for part-time PhD candidates.

1. Candidates' final selection for PhD admission will be determined by evaluating their performance in the written test, interview, academic history, and entrance examination scores.
