IIT Kanpur Scholarships

  1. Merit Cum Means Scholarships: The Merit Cum Means Scholarship is based on the student's performance in entrance exams or previous qualifications. It offers a full tuition waiver and a monthly pocket allowance of INR 1000. To be eligible for this scholarship, students must maintain a minimum Cumulative Performance Index (CPI) of 6.5. The monthly pocket allowance will be withdrawn if the CPI exceeds the minimum requirement. This scholarship is available to SC/ST category students or those with an annual parental income below 4.5 lakhs.
  2. INSPIRE Scholarship: The INSPIRE Scholarship is available for BS program students who rank within the top 10,000 in the All India Rank (AIR) as per the Common Merit List (CML) in the Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics departments. Recipients of this scholarship receive an annual scholarship of INR 30,000 per semester (INR 60,000 yearly) along with a research grant of INR 20,000. To be eligible, students must maintain a minimum CPI of 6.0 and submit an undertaking that they are not receiving any other scholarship.
  3. Sports Scholarship: Students who have demonstrated exceptional achievements in sports events and activities on campus are eligible for the Sports Scholarship. IIT Kanpur awards a maximum of 20 scholarships each year, providing an amount of INR 1000 for nine months.
  4. External Scholarship: IIT Kanpur assists students who need help securing institute scholarships in applying for external scholarships. These scholarships are typically offered under different government of India schemes. The National Scholarship Portal, launched by the Government of India as part of the Prime Minister's Digital India Program, is one such platform available to students nationwide.

IIT Kanpur provides various Donors Scholarships to support deserving and financially needy students. These scholarships are awarded based on specific departmental criteria or a minimum Cumulative Performance Index (CPI) of 6.0. Here is a list of some Donor's Scholarships available at IIT Kanpur, along with their respective selection criteria:

  1. Babu Ram Jain and Mrs. Shanti Jain Memorial Scholarship: Awarded to first-year undergraduate (UG) students from any engineering department based on the lowest Total Family Annual Income (TFAI). The recipient should not be receiving any other scholarship.
  2. Balajit and Nirmal Dhindsa Scholarship: Given to first-year UG students from the Biological Sciences and Bioengineering (BSBE) department based on the highest CPI.
  3. Kinra Scholarship: Available to first-year UG students from the Mechanical Engineering (ME) department with a minimum CPI of 6.0.
  4. Kunta Jha Scholarship: Awarded to UG students in 4-year or 5-year programs from any department based on a minimum CPI of 6.0.
  5. Mathur Brother Scholarship: Granted to first-year UG students from any department based on their JEE All India Rank (AIR). The student should be from the General Category and have studied in a non-English medium school.
  6. Prof. CNR Rao Science Talent Scholarship: Available to UG students in 4-year or 5-year programs from the Chemistry department based on the Merit Cum Means (MCM) Donor criteria.
  7. Shanti and Ramkishore Sahai Saxena Memorial Scholarship: Awarded to first-year UG students from any department based on their JEE AIR.
  8. Shrimati Madhuri Dubey Scholarship: any UG or postgraduate (PG) student from any department based on the MCM Donor Criteria is open.
