IIT Gandhinagar [IITGN] : Admissions

IIT Gandhinagar offers engineering, technology, and science courses, including BTech, MTech, PGD, MSc, MA, and PhD. Programs.  To secure admission to the BTech program, students must clear the JEE Main and JEE Advanced and participate in JoSAA counselling.  Candidates must possess a valid GATE score for admission to MTech courses, depending on the chosen program.  Additionally, the institute conducts a written test and interview as part of the selection process for MTech courses.  For an MSc, the candidates must have a valid JAM score.  PhD. Admissions  GATE score (if applicable), a  written test, and an interview.  The IIT Gandhinagar Panel of Experts conducts them.

1. JEE Main: Candidates must appear for the JEE Main entrance exam and secure a valid rank. The minimum JEE Main rank required for admission to IIIT Gandhinagar varies yearly.
2. JEE Advanced: Candidates must qualify for the JEE Advanced exam with an excellent rank to be eligible for admission to IIT Gandhinagar. 
3. JoSAA Counselling: Candidates who qualify for the JEE Advanced exam must register for the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) counselling. In this counselling, they can choose their preferred IITs and courses.
4. IIT Gandhinagar Seat Allotment: Based on their JEE Advanced rank and their choices in the JoSAA counselling, candidates will be allotted a seat at IIT Gandhinagar.

1. To be eligible, candidates should have completed their 10+2 education, with compulsory subjects being Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
2. The aggregate percentage of marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics in 10+2 should be 75%.
3. SC/ST/PwD candidates: 5% relaxation in the aggregate percentage of marks in 10+2.
4. PWD candidates: 10% relaxation in the aggregate percentage of marks in 10+2 and 5% relaxation in the JEE Advanced cut-off.

1. The first round of selection is based on the JEE Main score. Candidates who clear the cut-off are eligible to appear for the JEE Advanced.
2. The final selection is based on the JEE Advanced score and the performance in the JoSAA counselling.

1. Application Procedure: Applicants must complete their application by submitting the required form through the official website.
2. Candidates must also upload their academic transcripts, GATE scorecards and other relevant supporting documents along with the application form.
3. Apply for GATE: The initial step involves applying for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) examination. The GATE exam is a national-level entrance exam for Admission to MTech programs in India. 
4. Shortlisting: Candidates will be shortlisted based on their academic performance and GATE score.
5. Written Test: Shortlisted candidates will be invited to appear for a written test held in various cities across India.
6. Interview: Candidates who qualify for the written test will receive interview invitations conducted by a panel of faculty members from IIT Gandhinagar.

1. Applicants must have completed their B.E./BTech./MSc. or an equivalent examination in relevant branches.
2. A minimum score of 55% or a CGPA of 5.5 on a scale of 10 is required for general category candidates.
3. SC/ST candidates are eligible with a minimum score of 50%.
4. IIT graduates meeting the eligibility criteria with a CGPA of 8.0 on a scale of ten will be eligible for direct admission at the institute.
5. If applying through the Work and Study MTech program, candidates must have at least two years of relevant work experience after graduation.

1. Selection Process: The final selection of candidates will be determined based on their performance in the written test, interview, and GATE score.

1. Write the entrance test(JAM): The entrance test for the Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics disciplines is the Joint Admission Test for M.Sc. (JAM). The IIT Gandhinagar Cognitive Science Admission Test (iGCAT) is the entrance test for the Cognitive Science program.
2. Attend the interview: The shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview. The interview will be conducted to assess the candidates' academic performance, research aptitude, and communication skills.
3. Get admission: The candidates selected in the interview will be offered admission to the MSc program at IIT Gandhinagar.

1. For eligibility, candidates must possess a bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline from a recognized university with a minimum aggregate of 60% marks.
2. Candidates must have appeared for the Joint Admission Test for MSc. 
3. The cut-off for admission to MSc at IIT Gandhinagar is around 75% for the general category and 70% for the reserved categories.
4. The selection process for an MSc at IIT Gandhinagar is based on the JAM score and a personal interview.

1. The final selection for all MSc programs will be based on the candidate's academic record, JAM score (if applicable), written test score, and interview performance.

1. Application: Applicants can complete the application form online on the IIT Gandhinagar website. The application fee is INR 1000.
2. Entrance test: IIT Gandhinagar conducts the entrance test. The test consists of questions on general knowledge, current affairs, and topics from society and culture.
3. Interview: Candidates who are shortlisted will receive invitations for the interview process. The interview will assess the candidate's academic aptitude, communication skills, and interest in the program.

1. To qualify for the program, candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree from a recognized university in any discipline to meet the eligibility criteria. With at least 55% marks (or equivalent CPI/GPA).
2. The students awaiting final semester/year results and those completing a Bachelor's degree in the current academic year are also eligible to apply.

1. Outstanding candidates might receive admission offers solely based on their academic records, exempting them from the written test and interview.
2. The entrance test and interview are conducted at the institute's premises for the selected candidates.
3. Final selection depends on academic records, preparedness for graduate studies, and written test and interview performance.

1. Apply online: The application form for PhD admission at IIT Gandhinagar can be submitted online. The application fee is INR 2000 for general category candidates and INR 1000 for SC/ST/PWD candidates.

2. Upload the required documents: The following documents need to be uploaded along with the application form:

• Proof of identity and nationality.

• Proof of educational qualifications.

• NET/GATE scorecard (if applicable).

• GRE score (if applicable).

• Statement of purpose.

• Research proposal.

• Two letters of recommendation.

3. Attend the interview: Shortlisted candidates will be extended invitations for an interview conducted by a panel of experts specializing in the relevant discipline.

4. Receive the offer letter: Candidates who demonstrate success in the interview process will receive offers for PhD positions at IIT Gandhinagar.

1. To be eligible, candidates must possess a Master's degree in the relevant subject with a minimum of 55% marks (50% for SC/ST candidates).
2. A valid GATE score, a CSIR/UGC/NBHM/DBT award, or a minimum of 2 years of professional work experience (after passing the qualifying degree) in the relevant field.

1. The application is screened based on the academic record, GATE score (if applicable), and statement of purpose.
2. Shortlisted candidates are invited for an interview.
3. The final selection is based on the interview performance, letters of recommendation, and overall academic record.
