IIIT Dharwad [IIITD] : Admissions

IIIT Dharwad offers Admissions for various Programs Like BTech and PhD Programs. For BTech Admissions, Candidates must have appeared for the JEE Main entrance exams and followed the JoSSA Counselling Process.

For PhD Admissions, Candidates must have valid UGC-NET/GATE/SLET Scores in these entrance exams. Moreover, Written tests and personal interviews. The interviews are held by A panel of experts at IIIT Dharwad.

1. Appear for JEE Main: The first step to apply for BTech admission at IIIT Dharwad is to appear for the Joint Entrance Examination - Main (JEE Main). JEE Main is a national-level entrance exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission to engineering colleges in India.
2.  Register for JoSAA/CSAB Counselling: Once you appear for JEE Main, you must register for the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA)/Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) counselling. JoSAA/CSAB is a centralized counselling process for admission to engineering colleges in India.
3. Fill in your preferences: During the JoSAA/CSAB counselling process, you must fill in your preferences for colleges and branches. You can fill in as many preferences as you want.
4. Seat allocation: You will be allowed a college and branch seat based on your JEE Main rank and preferences. You can accept or reject the seat allotted to you.
5. Document verification fee payment and admission: If you accept the seat allotted, you must report to the allotted college for document verification and fee payment. After completing the document verification and fee payment process, you will be admitted to the allotted college.

1. Candidates must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects and at least 60% marks in aggregate.
2. Candidates must have a valid JEE Main score.

Relaxation

1. Reserved category candidates (SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PWD) get a relaxation of 5% in the aggregate marks, i.e., they must have scored at least 55% in aggregate.

Lateral Entry

1. Diploma holders in Engineering and Technology with at least 45% marks are eligible for admission to the second year of the BTech program, subject to vacancies.

Candidates are required to submit the following documents during the admission process for UG courses at IIITD:

1. The academic records for the 10th and 12th standard examinations, including mark sheets and certificates, must be provided.
2. Entrance exam scorecard
3. Caste/category certificate (if applicable)
4. Transfer certificate from the previous institution
5. Migration certificate (if applicable)
6. Passport-sized photographs
7. Any other documents specified by the Institute

1. Selection: Admission to IIIT Dharwad's BTech programme is entirely entrance-based. Candidates are selected through a national-level examination, JEE Main, conducted by NTA.

1. Download the PhD application form: The PhD application form is available on the IIIT Dharwad website. You need to download the form, fill it out, and submit it with the required documents.
2. Please fill out the application form and submit it with the required documents:

• Attested copies of all academic mark sheets and certificates.
• A valid UGC-NET/GATE/SLET scorecard.
• A copy of your caste certificate (if applicable).
• A research proposal.
• Two letters of recommendation from academicians.

1. Pay the application fee: The application fee for the PhD program in Dharwad is Rs. 2000. You can pay the fee online or through a bank draft.
2. Entrance exams: Candidates must have valid UGC-NET/GATE/SLET Scores in these entrance exams.
3. Shortlisted candidates will be called for a written test and interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called for a written test and interview. The written test will assess your knowledge of the fundamentals of your discipline. The interview will assess your research interests and aptitude.

The minimum eligibility criteria for the program are below. PhD in Computer Science and Engineering / Data Science and Intelligent Systems/Electronics and Communication Engineering One of the following is a must. 

• Master’s Degree in Engineering / Technology in relevant areas. 
• B.Tech / M.Sc in Engineering / Technology in relevant areas. Applicants with experience in a reputed R&D organization or company, or if they have published papers in reputed conferences, journals, or patents, are preferred. 

PhD in Physics / Mathematics / Humanities Master’s Degree in relevant areas is a must. 

Minimum CGPA / CPI of 6.5 for General / OBC and 6.0 for S.C / S.T / all PwD category students on a scale of 1-10 or 60% for General / OBC and 55% for S.C / S.T / all PwD category students marks in aggregate.

1. The shortlisting of applicants is based on their performance in the qualifying examination. Once shortlisted, candidates must participate in a screening test organized by the institute. 
2. Those who pass the screening test will be invited for a personal interview. 
3. The final selection will be determined by the merit list issued by the institute, considering the candidate's performance in the written test and interview.

1. The minimum eligibility criteria for admission to the PhD program at IIIT Dharwad is a Master's degree in Engineering/Technology or any relevant discipline with a minimum aggregate CGPA of 6.5 on a 10-point scale. You must also have a valid GATE/UGC-NET/SLET score.
