Master of Laws [L.L.M.] Criminal Law is a 1-2 year-long postgraduate law programme. The course designed to develop an understanding of legal principles and enhance knowledge in academics & criminal law research. 

The programme enlightens students with the study of contemporary debates in both criminal law and criminal justice at an advanced level. Graduates of LL.M in Criminal Law also take care of matters related to public interests. 


Master of Laws [LL M] Criminal Law Eligibility Criteria 

The eligibility criteria mentioned below are common to most of the universities and colleges across the country. The eligibility criteria vary based on college and university. The details of a particular institution's eligibility are mentioned on the page of that particular college. 

  • The basic eligibility criteria for admission to this programme is a 3 to 5 years-long law degree from a recognized university with a minimum aggregate score of 50% (45% for SC/ ST candidates).
  • Applicants appearing for the final year graduation examination are also eligible to apply.
  • Many institutes prefer students with professional experience, therefore, it is advised for candidates to acquire a work experience of a minimum of 24 months.


Master of Laws [LL M] Criminal Law Admission Process

There are two kinds of admission process for the program enrolment. Entrance-based and merit-based. The admission process that is given below is the general process. The individual admission process for a particular college is given on the page of that particular institution. 

Entrance Based Admission: The student must attend the entrance exam conducted by the particular college or university or state level or national level entrance exams. The admissions will be allotted based on the rank secured in the entrance exam result. Some of the entrance exams for the programme enrolment are given below. 

  • CLAT PG 
  • AILET PG 
  • ILI CAT 
  • IPU CET 

Merit-Based Admission: This also can be called Management Quota admission or Direct admission. The admission is allotted based on the marks obtained in the competitive examination. In this admission process, the student has to apply directly to the desired university or college through their application process. Some of them offer online and some offline.
