Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharma) is a four-year undergraduate program in which students study the methods and process of preparing drugs and how does the dispensing of medicine and drugs works. B Pharma or B. Pharm is a career-oriented course and if you aspire to be a pharmacist. B.Pharma imparts useful knowledge about biochemical science and healthcare business. Students during their coursework have to perform various practicals and experiment. Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), is responsible for laying down all norms and regulations for the Pharma courses.
Bachelor of Pharmacy [B Pharm / B Pharma] Eligibility Criteria
The eligibility criteria mentioned below are common to most of the universities and colleges across the country. The eligibility criteria vary based on college and university. The details of a particular institution's eligibility are mentioned on the page of that particular college.
- The basic requirement to get admission in this programme is an HSC with English, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Mathematics from a recognized board or university with a minimum of 50-55% (5% relaxation for SC/ ST candidates).
- Applicants appearing for the final year graduation examination are also eligible to apply.
- Candidates from non-formal-based schooling like NIOS and state-based open schooling are not eligible for this programme.
Bachelor of Pharmacy [B. Pharm / B. Pharm] Admission Process
There are two kinds of admission process for the program enrolment. Entrance-based and merit-based. The admission process that is given below is the general process. The individual admission process for a particular college is given on the page of that particular institution.
- Entrance Based Admission: The student must attend the entrance exam conducted by the particular college or university or state level or national level entrance exams. The admissions will be allotted based on the rank secured in the entrance exam result. Some of the top B. Pharm entrance exams are, MHT-CET Maharashtra Entrance Test, BHU-B Entrance Exam, Goa Common Entrance Test etc.
Certain institutes organize rounds of Personal Interaction (PI) and Group Discussion (GD) for further evaluating the knowledge and skills of applicants.
- Merit-Based Admission / Direct Admission / Management Quota Admission: This also can be called Management Quota admission or Direct admission. The admission is allotted based on the marks obtained in the competitive examination. In this admission process, the student has to apply directly to the desired university or college through their application process. Some of them offer online and some offline.
