Padmashree Institute of Medical Laboratory Technology BSc Medical Laboratory Technology Eligibility Criteria

For admission into the Bachelor of Science Degree Course in Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT), applicants must fulfil the following eligibility criteria:

  • The candidate must have included English as one of the principal subjects during the course's duration.

The eligibility criteria encompass several pathways, including:

  • Completing a Two-year Pre-University examination or an equivalent qualification recognised by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as the study subjects.

OR

  • Attainment of a Pre-Degree course from a recognised University, deemed equivalent by RGUHS. This Pre-Degree course should span two years after ten years of schooling, with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as study subjects.

OR

  • Qualification from any examination deemed equivalent by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore, with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as study subjects.

OR

  • Completion of the vocational higher secondary education course offered by the Vocational Higher Secondary Education, Government of Kerala. This course requires the inclusion of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English, along with vocational subjects. It is regarded as equivalent to the Government of Karnataka Pre-University Course plus TWO examinations.

OR

  • Applicants holding a two-year diploma from a recognised Government Board in a subject relevant to their desired enrollment in the BSc MLT course must have passed their 12th grade [10+2] examinations with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. Similarly, candidates with a three-year diploma from a recognised Government Board in a relevant subject must have studied Physics, Biology, and Chemistry during their diploma course.

Additionally:

  • Lateral entry into the second year of allied health science courses is possible for candidates with a diploma program recognised by RGUHS and the Government Boards. It applies to those who meet the criteria outlined in point number 5. Such candidates are only eligible for lateral entry into the same subject they studied at the diploma level. This provision has been in effect since the academic year 2008-09, as per RGUHS Notification No. AUTH/AHS/317/2008-09 dated 01.08.2008.

Notes:

  • The candidate must have secured individual passing marks in each subject.
  • Candidates who have pursued diploma or vocational courses through Correspondence are not eligible for the courses mentioned above.

  • Candidates who have completed B.Sc. in Clinical Biochemistry/Medical Biochemistry or B.Sc. in Clinical Microbiology/Medical Microbiology are eligible to enrol in the M.Sc. MLT program specialising in Clinical Biochemistry or Microbiology and Immunology, respectively.
  • Candidates who have pursued B.Sc. MLT, through correspondence courses, is not eligible for admission.
  • Before admission, candidates must obtain an eligibility certificate issued by the university. To apply for this certificate, candidates must submit the following documents with the prescribed fee to the university: 
    • Pass/degree certificate issued by the university.
    • Marks cards of all university examinations passed.
    • Migration certificate.
    • Proof of SC/ST or category-I status, as applicable.

For admission to the MSc MLT program, candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria:

Moreover:

  • Candidates who have finished a B.Sc. in Clinical Biochemistry/Medical Biochemistry or a B.Sc. in Clinical Microbiology/Medical Microbiology are eligible to enrol in the M.Sc. MLT program specialising in Clinical Biochemistry or Microbiology and Immunology, respectively.
  • Candidates who have pursued B.Sc. MLT through correspondence courses are ineligible for admission.
  • Before being admitted to the postgraduate degree course, candidates must have acquired and submitted the eligibility certificate issued by the university. Candidates are required to submit an application to the university along with the following documents and the prescribed fee: 
    • Pass/degree certificate issued by the university.
    • Marks cards for all university examinations passed.
    • Migration certificate.
    • Certificate of conduct.
    • Proof of SC/ST or category-I status, as applicable.
